Fans of Ed Sheeran who missed out on buying tickets for his upcoming concert on March 3 now have a second chance. More seats will go on sale from Monday, Feb. 2, the local events company that is managing the performance has said.
Due to the high demand for tickets, the British performer will be moved to a larger, standing venue within the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC), organizers said.
The extra tickets will be sold online starting at 10am on Feb. 2, according to an update posted on social media this morning by Iconic Advertising & Events.
The singer-songwriter’s website has not yet been updated with the new information, and there are no details yet about the price of the new tickets.
However, a statement posted on Iconic Qatar’s Facebook page says:
“As this show was originally seated at the QNCC theatre all ticket grades will remain the same.”
Further updates are forthcoming, it added.
The March concert is believed to be Sheeran’s first show in Qatar.
Sheeran is one of the larger musical acts in recent years to plan a show here, as artists traveling through the region often bypass Doha in favor of Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
Though in recent weeks, high-profile performers including Pharrell Williams, Gwen Stefani and Jason Derulo have held concerts in Qatar as part of post-match entertainment at the 24th Men’s Handball World Championship.
Tickets for Sheeran’s show initially went on sale at the Grand Hyatt hotel at the end of November. But fans complained about long queues and a chaotic payments system.
At that time, prices started at QR250 and went up to QR550 for VIP tickets.
