American singer-songwriter Jason Derulo is scheduled to perform tomorrow night, Jan. 28, at a post-match concert for the 24th Men’s Handball World Championship, organizers have confirmed.
Derulo will sing after the end of the quarter-final matches at the Lusail Multipurpose Hall. Germany and Qatar will face off at 6:30pm and Denmark and Spain will play at 9pm.
The 25-year-old R&B/rap artist is wildly popular, with nearly 19 million Facebook fans and 3.2 million followers on Twitter.
But with hit songs such as “Talk Dirty” and “Wiggle,” the tattooed performer is an interesting choice for a concert in conservative Qatar.

This doesn’t seem to have deterred handball organizers, who have pushed the envelope this month by bringing in other high-profile artists such as Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani.
The strategy has resulted in higher fan attendance at many handball events, which run through Feb. 1.
For those who wish to check out the Wednesday night matches and concert, tickets for the games can be bought online here. They range in price from QR40 to QR300, and several hundred seats still seemed available on Tuesday night.
Previously, organizers told Doha News that buying a ticket to the game ensures a seat for the post-match concert, but attendees should not show up just before the concert begins.
However, in a statement issued last night, the handball team said that performance tickets can be bought at the Lusail hall box office after 8pm, though they are subject to availability.
Do you plan to go to the games? Thoughts?
assuming one only is interested in the cincert, when should they show up?
the second game will start at 9:00 pm, best time to be there 9:30, after that you won’t find a good seats.
The other two concerts didn’t start until well after 11pm. Not sure what the rules are with seating? I thought it was allocated seating, but people did move after the games had finished. Incidentally, the last game is due to start at 9pm, each half is 30 mins and the break is 15mins.
After 8pm – though tix are subject to availability, organizers said.
Go and see the games. They are actually quite good. I’ve never been to a handball game before this tournament, but was pleasantly surprised when I did go. At least they are fast paced and not as boring as football
I got into both concerts for free. They tell you at the door that if you don’t have tickets you should only sit on the third level. Both times, however, I managed to find really good seats, the second time with a Security Officer’s assistance. And I showed up after 10:00 p.m. for both concerts.
Many people are actually able to sneak into the VIP section at booth 104 because the staff get tired by 10:30pma nd cant be bothered to man the seats properly.
Oh man, this is the one time I wish I was still in Doha.
