Fans of Ed Sheeran who missed out on buying tickets for his upcoming concert on March 3 now have a second chance. More seats will go on sale from Monday, Feb. 2, the local events company that is managing the performance has said.
Due to the high demand for tickets, the British performer will be moved to a larger, standing venue within the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC), organizers said.
The extra tickets will be sold online starting at 10am on Feb. 2, according to an update posted on social media this morning by Iconic Advertising & Events.
The singer-songwriter’s website has not yet been updated with the new information, and there are no details yet about the price of the new tickets.
However, a statement posted on Iconic Qatar’s Facebook page says:
“As this show was originally seated at the QNCC theatre all ticket grades will remain the same.”
Further updates are forthcoming, it added.
The March concert is believed to be Sheeran’s first show in Qatar.
Sheeran is one of the larger musical acts in recent years to plan a show here, as artists traveling through the region often bypass Doha in favor of Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
Though in recent weeks, high-profile performers including Pharrell Williams, Gwen Stefani and Jason Derulo have held concerts in Qatar as part of post-match entertainment at the 24th Men’s Handball World Championship.
Tickets for Sheeran’s show initially went on sale at the Grand Hyatt hotel at the end of November. But fans complained about long queues and a chaotic payments system.
At that time, prices started at QR250 and went up to QR550 for VIP tickets.
Do you plan to buy tickets? Thoughts?
A radio commercial could be sounding like this: “Order now! ..50% change you’ll get in.”
However to ensure a full house those people who arrive early without a ticket may get first priority on seating.
I’ll open a business.. For a small fee we will insure your event ticket.. In case of unannounced cancelation … Change of venue.. Change of date… Or somehow you find yourself locked out of the venue…
I call it
Cause It’s Doha Insurance Coverage 🙂
So, the venue is now standing only? Is it pretty much general admission? When I saw that the tickets were being handwritten with seat numbers I knew we would have issues from the start. Who does that? This isn’t 1972!
omg dude its qatar, whats new. get over it
First, I’m not a dude. Second, specific seat assignment vs. standing only general admission are two very different things. Third, the organizers are not a local group, they should have a better system than handwriting in seat assignments.
Actually, I believe Iconic (the event organisers) are local, run by one of the old Global DJ guys.
That’s right! This is Qatar, never expect to be given what you were told. Whether it be an employment contract, housing, services, food service, or public event. You get what you get. Even if you paid extra for what you wanted, in Qatar we can change that anytime we want or see fit. And never, never expect a refund. Just take what you are given. Bringing your western ideals of fee for service, value, and expectation shall not fly! No, you should expect to be overcharged for the most inferior service you can by at the highest prices.
All hail the Qatar way! 😉
How can the ticket grading remain the same if it is now an all standing venue, rather than seating categorised by price? Does that mean people with seats at the back now have to stand at the back?
I queued for hours in Grand Hyatt to get the best SEAT (an i was hoping to get a comfy padded chair not plastic chairs) and paid 450QR for Platinum Ticket. I hope this change in venue will not lead to us at the back of the pack after paying premium tickets.
The organizers themselves in Grand Hyatt were disorganized. It was a disaster! I have been to other countries and saw multiple concerts but that tops my list of worst events management ever! It was all chaos from finding which queue to go, to paying for the ticket without being able to choose your preferred seat as the organizers just assign you the seat and WRITE it by hand!?!? Guys it’s 2015! Iconic Advertising & Events have you heard of Ticketing systems? #AreWeBackInTheStoneAge #IfNotForEdSheeranIwillNotGoThroughHellWithThisChaos
Yep the hand written seat assignments were baffling. I am so waiting so multiple people to have tickets with the same seat assignment. But it looks like it will now be a general admission free for all.
Organisers seems to follow the principle of being Roman when in Rome! They don’t care to change concert from seated to standing at same ticket prices! Maybe lines are drawn on the floor to demarcate prices!
Has there been an event yet where you buy a ticket and you actually get in or get what you paid for? This could easily be solved by simply selling the tickets online, through any number of ticket exchanges. Seems that the greed factor is just too much to get around.
Where can I buy ticket for Ed Sheeran concert?
