A group of talented young Russian ballet dancers will perform Prokofiev’s Cinderella at the Katara drama theater early next month.
The Gzhel Dance Theater‘s youth company  – some of whom are as young as 10 years old – are traveling from Moscow for the shows. This will be the troupe’s second performance in Doha over the past six months, following a successful run of The Nutcracker in October last year.
Doha-based company Enana Productions worked with Katara to bring the dance troupe to Qatar. Public Relations Manager Joel Adams told Doha News that the strength of the show is in its universal appeal:
“First of all, it is a well-known and time-honored fairy tale that is suitable for the entire family, enjoyable for the very young as well as adults. And, of course a ballet with music written by one of Russia’s best composers is perfect for an international venue like Doha since, no matter what language you speak, the message will be communicated in gorgeous music and thrilling dance so everyone can understand.”
Each show will be an hour long, and will be performed to recorded music.
Cinderella will be staged twice daily from Feb. 5 to 8, at 4pm and 7pm.
Tickets are available online from Virgin Megastore, and cost QR 50 and Qr75, depending on the type of seat selected.
