Despite the hot weather, there are still plenty of ways to fun outdoors this weekend.
Whipping around a racing track in a go-kart, exercising in a Zumba class and watching some of Qatar’s top football players are just some of the events taking place across the country.
Here are our picks:
Outdoor Karting at Losail
Losail Circuit Sports Club will be opening its outdoor karting and mini Moto track this Thursday, May 12, in an effort to attract more young people to participate in outdoor activities.
For karting, participants are required to bring their own helmets. For the Mini Moto track, participants are required to bring along their own bikes and safety equipment. However, participants can borrow one of a limited number of helmets when they are available.
The track will be open from 6:30pm to 10:30pm every Thursday and Friday evening until July 1.
During Ramadan, the track will open from 8:30pm to 11:30pm. Registration for either track can be done upon arrival. Each session lasts for 15 minutes and costs QR100.
UB40 Live in Qatar
British reggae-pop band UB40 performs this Friday, May 13 at the Intercontinental Hotel Doha. UB40 climbed to fame in the 1980s and 90s with songs such as Red Red Wine and Can’t Help Falling in Love.
Doors for the event will open at 6:30pm with DJs and an opening act. UB40 will come on stage by 9:30pm.
Tickets for the event cost QR249, while VIP passes cost QR499 each. They can be bought online via Q-tickets here.

Zumba for muscular dystrophy
This Saturday, May 14, the Four Seasons Hotel is hosting a complimentary outdoor 60-minute Zumba class, dubbed #MoveAMuscle, to spread awareness of Muscular Dystrophy.
Muscular dystrophy is a muscle disease that weakens the skeletal muscles, leading to difficulty in walking or moving. While the disease cannot be cured, exercises can help maintain muscle tone.
The dance fitness class will start at 8:30am on Saturday, May 14. Entry is free, and children above the age of 10 are welcome.
Participants are asked to RSVP by sending their name, number and email address to [email protected] or calling 4494-8600. The class will be at the Garden Terrace in the Four Seasons.
‫Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto
The Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra will be hosting its Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto on Friday, May 13. The concert will start at 7:30pm at Katara’s Opera House.
Cost for the tickets range from QR75 to QR200. Children aged 6 and above require their own ticket for entry. Tickets can be purchased on the orchestra’s website.
Emir Cup semi-finals
Join Qatar’s leading teams as they compete in the semi-finals for the Emir Cup 2016 this Friday, May 13.
Al Rayyan will square off against Al Sadd at 5:30pm, while Lekhwiya will compete against El Jaish at 8pm. Both matches take place at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium at the Al Sadd Sports Club.
Regular tickets for the semi-finals cost QR10, while VIP passes cost QR50. They can be bought at the venue, starting 3pm on the day of the matches.
Conference series: How Women Find Work
How Women Work will be holding a conference tomorrow, May 12, titled How Women FIND Work.
The conference has been created to help women either entering Qatar’s job market for the first time or coming back to it after some time away.
The event will offer advice, hands-on practice, knowledge of the local job market, and a chance for participants to be recruited on the spot by visiting companies.
The event runs from 8am to 2:30pm this Thursday, May 12, at City Center Rotana. Tickets cost QR250 and participants can register via Eventbrite.
