Qatar’s Armed Forces will hold military parade training for National Day on Saturday, Dec. 17 from 6am to 1pm in the Corniche area, QNA reports.
The rehearsal includes parachuting in the morning at an altitude of 1,000 to 5,000 feet and a radius of 500m.
There will also be paramotoring practice from 2:30pm to 10pm at an altitude of 600 feet and a radius of 2km.
Expect parts of the Corniche to be closed off during this time.
On National Day (Dec. 18) itself, the military will hold parachuting and paramotoring shows on the Corniche from 6am to 1pm.
They will also do the same shows from 2:30pm to 8pm at Katara Cultural Village.
During these times, visitors are advised to “take precautions to ensure their safety.”
Preparations underway
With December fast approaching, Qatar has been gearing up for the annual holiday.
It marks the date in 1878 when Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani rallied the tribes of the peninsula into a unified people.
Already, stands have come up on the Corniche, and several stores and hotels are getting into the spirit with Qatari flags and other merchandise.
