To mark World Teachers’ Day this past week, people from across Qatar have been expressing their gratitude for some of the most important people in their lives.

In this video, Teach for Qatar spoke to dozens of school children about their favorite teachers.

Meanwhile, teacher appreciation has been trending in Qatar, with grown-ups reflecting on how their instructors have shaped their lives:

Translation: There aren’t enough words of praise or poems of gratitude that would do teachers justice. They spend most of their time taking their students from the darkness of ignorance to the light of knowledge.

Translation: On Teacher’s Day on Oct. 5, I extend my greetings to everyone who taught me even one letter. Greetings to my father’s soul, my mother’s heart and a whole caravan of teachers who contributed to building my character and scope of knowledge.
