An online auction for special license plates numbers in Qatar has generated some QR5.58 million for the government.
This is far less than the QR17 million the Ministry of Interior brought in during another auction two months ago.
The fifth license plate number auction ran from Tuesday afternoon to late last night, closing around 12:40am this morning.
It was held via the government app Metrash 2, and open to anyone with a Qatar ID.
Results
Some 22 six-digit plates were auctioned off, with 333300 generating the highest bid when it closed at QR638,000.
In comparison, the highest bid during September’s auction was QR2,304,000 for license plate number 311113.
The lowest bid that came in yesterday was QR130,000, for 393399.
Anyone who made a bid was required to submit a deposit of QR20,000, and bids started at QR100,000.
If the successful bidders don’t pay for their purchase within two days, they lose the license plate number and their deposit.
