With just a few days to go before Qatar celebrates National Day, the country is putting the final touches on some of its most popular events.
Yesterday, the Corniche was closed for several hours for parade rehearsal. Air show practices have been going on all week, slightly disrupting flights out of Doha International Airport. Elsewhere, Qatari flags and portraits of the Emir are being draped on buildings, while flags and other swag are being sold in shops and on street corners.
The festivities started early this month, with Darb Al Saai in full swing since last week, and the Corniche opening some tents to explain Qatar’s history over the weekend.
See our National Day 2013 guide for more information about what’s going on this week.
