Following a sold-out run of Disney on Ice in Doha last summer, the entertainment group is bringing another family show to Qatar next month: Mickey’s Music Festival, which will play at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC) from Feb. 12 to 16.
The show is a concert of hit songs from movies like Aladdin and Toy Story, performed by 25 characters from the films. The songs will be “remixed” in a variety of styles including rock, pop, reggae, hip-hop, jazz and country, according to the show’s organizers.
Tourism strategy
Mickey’s Music Festival is being brought to the country by the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), which said the show is part of its strategy to make Qatar “the ultimate family entertainment destination in the Middle East.”
Disney has been invited back to Qatar because of the success of Disney On Ice, according to Rashed Alqurese, QTA’s director of marketing & promotion:
“The people of Qatar and residents from other Gulf countries experienced family entertainment at its finest, walking away with lasting memories. The Disney entertainment brand is a great fit for Qatar,” he said.
Tickets
Tickets for the show, which go on sale Friday, Jan. 10 (tomorrow), are priced similarly to those sold for Disney on Ice, starting at QR125, the “early bird” price until Jan. 20th. Regularly priced tickets range from QR150 for the cheapest seats, to QR1,000 for VIP tickets.
During last year’s show, there was no discounted price for children, but kids under two years old were not required to have a ticket if they sat on their parents’ laps.
Tickets will be on sale at Virgin Megastores in Landmark and Villaggio malls, and at www.virginmegastore.qa.
