Qatar residents are being invited to once again run, walk or even skip their way along the 5K Color Run course when the popular event returns on Jan. 28, 2017.
During “the happiest 5k on the planet,” runners are pelted with colored powder after finishing each kilometer of the race.
Thousands have taken part in the past two iterations, which were held annually at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC).
For the 2017 event, the organizers are promising “an enhanced experience.”
They described a “tropical array” of colors being thrown under the shade of palm trees and arches with “lively island-style music” accompanying running efforts.
The event is organized in conjunction with Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar (WCM-Q), which runs the health campaign Sahtak Awalan: Your Health First.
Registration
Residents can register to participate in the event on its website. Entry costs from QAR140; children ages 4 years old and under can race for free.
Unlike many fun runs, the Color Run does not directly raise money for charity.
However, the company says it does make post-run donations to charities, and encourages runners to made additional donations to good causes during the registration process.
