To help families in Qatar clear out their cache of unused toys, and teach kids about the art of negotiation, the Doha Flea Market is organizing a barter event next week.
The Children Toy’s Barter will take place on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 10:30am to 5pm at Little Academy in Madinat Khalifa.
Parents and children are asked to bring in toys in good condition that they wish to swap. According to organizers:
The first step is to value the items brought in, which will then be allocated to the relevant yellow, blue and green stalls depending on the value. The children are then provided with colored tickets according to the value of their toys.
Teachers will then instruct students on how bartering works. Items other than toys such as musical instruments, crayons, books and other pieces are also welcome.
Any leftover toys will be given to charity, organizers said.
Doha Flea Market first launched last fall, and is now a monthly event at West End Park that allows residents to sell second-hand goods, hand-crafted items and clothes and food. More information on next weekend’s market can be found here.
