The Sahara Project: A scheme that aims to provide fresh water, food and renewable energy in uninhabitable desert.
Reblogged from pag-asaharibon:
A 10,000 square meters man-made oasis will open in Qatar this year. The system consists of seawater-based greenhouses, solar power, evaporative hedges and ponds, and it is inspired by a camel’s nostrils. Solar power generates energy to pump water throughout the structure. The evaporative hedges provide humidity and shelter for plants.
By various accounts, the project looks promising. What do you think?
