Report: The Doha Grand Park project is no more
The Doha Grand Park – a two-million square meter park intended to rival New York’s Central Park – has been cancelled, MEED reports.
No clear reason has been given for the park’s cancellation by the Private Engineering Office (PEO), a government-run agency that was overseeing the project, but MEED suggests it could been to do with either disagreement on plans, or simply prioritization of other infrastructure projects ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
If completed, Doha Grand Park would have stretched from Oryx Roundabout and the Khalifa Tennis Complex passed Rumeilah Park and down toward the Emiri Diwan. It was even supposed to include a ferris wheel and public swimming pools.
