Amid closures during the world cycling championships, Ashghal has temporarily opened a road linking northern Doha with Lusail City.
The North Canal Crossing will be open until Oct. 17, to allow access to locations including the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Lagoona Mall and West Bay Lagoon, Ashghal said.
This is because some roads in the area will be shut while the UCI Road World Cycling Championships take place this week.
While the majority of the races take place on the Pearl-Qatar, there are some that affect other parts of town.
The men’s elite individual time trial, on the afternoon of Oct. 12, sets off from Lusail sports complex and heads south past Qatar University, then through West Bay Lagoon before reaching the Pearl. The roads will likely be closed to traffic during this time.

In a statement, Asghghal said the new route will take motorists on the western side of Lagoona Mall up to Lusail City.
They, they can connect with the Al Khor Coastal Road, Al Shamal Road, or head south to central Doha while other roads are shut.
During the event, residents are advised to follow the Ministry of Interior (MOI), which is announcing road closures in Arabic and English on Twitter.
