More than 1,000 runners in Qatar woke up early this morning, laced up their trainers and spent hours racing down the Corniche during the annual Ooredoo Marathon.
Participants included professional athletes, fitness enthusiasts, amateurs and even enthusiastic children vying for part of a prize pot of QR1 million.
Speaking to Doha News, several participants said they took part because they enjoyed challenging themselves, while others said they were running to support a good cause.
Proceeds from entry fees for the races are going to several local charities, including Educate a Child.
A list of the winners and their times can be found here.
Did you participate in the marathon? Thoughts?
