Award-winning British rapper Tinie Tempah and globetrotting Belgian DJ Lost Frequencies will close out this season’s outdoor music events during a concert in Doha on May 26.
This will be Tempah’s first Qatar performance. The singer, songwriter and producer, whose real name is Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu, will take to the stage at the Intercontinental Doha Hotel’s beach next month.
He will headline the event, called Escape, alongside DJ Felix De Laet, better known as Lost Frequencies, whose debut track Are You With Me was released less than two years ago and rocketed to #1 on the British, Australian, German, Austrian, Irish and Swiss music charts simultaneously.
Now a worldwide hit loved by stars from Damon Albarn to Snoop Dogg, Tempah launched his debut album Disc-Overy in 2010. It has sold 1.2 million copies globally and won 12 awards, including two Brits and three Mobos.
His current single Girls Like, with Swedish singer Zara Larsson, has had over 16 million views on YouTube.
The 27-year-old was the first British rapper to sell over 1 million singles in the US after Written In The Stars went to No.12 on the Billboard charts.
Discussing his achievements so far, Tempah said in a statement:
“When I do look back, I see I’ve achieved a lot but it’s kinda typical of me to want more. Everything I’ve already done, I want to do 10, 100, 1000 times over. I’m not sitting about being content and happy; I’m continuously striving for more.”
