In its third new route announcement this month, Qatar Airways has said it will begin flying directly from Doha to Larnaca four times a week, effective April 24, 2014.
Previously, Qatar residents heading to this popular tourist destination had to opt for one of the national carrier’s regional competitors, as both Etihad and Emirates fly directly to Cyprus.
In a statement, Qatar Airways said of its new route, which will be flown on the Airbus 320:
“We are continually striving to provide customers with more options of unique destinations to visit, and the Mediterranean city of Larnaca is a welcomed new addition to the airline’s route map.”

Earlier this month, the airline also announced plans to fly directly to Dallas starting next July, its seventh US destination and another route currently offered by Emirates.
And plans are also afoot to launch a direct service to Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport starting next May. Qatar Airways already currently flies to two other airports in Turkey – Istanbul’s Ataturk and Ankara.
Other new routes to be launched in the next months include: Hangzhou, China (Dec. 20); Sharjah and Dubai World Central, (March 1, 2014), Philadelphia (April 2), Edinburgh (May 28) and Miami (June 10).
