Thousands of residents went along to the 7th annual Wheels ‘n’ Heels Family Fun Day at the Museum of Islamic Art Park yesterday, which organizers Reach Out to Asia (ROTA) have called “the best ever”.
The event focused on health and well-being, with physical activity and an emphasis on healthy eating the order of the day.
Adults and children alike were given the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities, including a 3km circuit of the park by bike, skateboard, roller blades or on foot; a variety of fun children’s races; and yoga, fitness and cycling classes.
Bikes were available free of charge for use on the day, with members of the ASPIRE Academy Multi-sport Skill Development Programme (MSSD) teaching cycling newbies how to ride on two wheels.
With Qatar’s diabetes crisis in mind, the event also featured an “Action on Diabetes” area, with dietitians on hand to offer advice about weight loss and healthy eating.
ROTA uses the annual event to raise awareness, and to attract donations to help fund its work providing education to children in crisis-affected areas in Asia and around the world.
Did you go along? Thoughts?
