A new dessert and snack shop has opened its first Middle East branch in Qatar this week.

Las Vegas-based Popcorn Girl launched at Ezdan Mall on Wednesday to what appears to be a warm reception, based on the crowds visiting the store on the weekend.

The American shop sells some 30 different kinds of cheesy, chocolatey and fruity popcorn, including flavors like hot and spicy cheese, pizza popcorn, banana pudding, Puppy Chow, dark chocolate, blue coconut and Gonzo Grape.

Freshly made fudge (QR20/piece or QR300/slab), speciality and soft drinks and various types of candy are also for sale.

The store is strategically located next to children’s play area Funville, and according to our secret shopper, “kids were going gaga at this place with so many options and candies to choose from. Adults mainly preferred the popcorns or fudge with coffee.”

Pricey treats

While tasty, the popcorn doesn’t come cheap. It is sold in four sizes – a three-cup bag and 1.3-gallon, 3.5-gallon and 6-gallon packages priced at QR59, QR239, QR499 and QR699, respectively.

Customers can mix and match different popcorn flavors, or add candy into the packages for an added cost.
