Qatar has always given special preference to sports activities. It is both derived by ambition to compete internationally and the importance of sports to bring together communities. Sports has proven to be a successful platform for communities to come together.

The National Sports Day celebrations began today with Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani participating by cycling on the Doha Corniche.

Various sports activities such as, cycling, swimming, football, basketball, tennis, taekwondo, self-defence, beach volleyball, water sports competitions were planned for the day at various locations celebrating the day.

Aspire Zone hosted thrilling sporting activities including, outdoor activities like running, children oriented activities, Dodge Ball, Japanese Kendo, Nordic Walk, beginning from 6:30 am to 1:00 pm. Indoor activities organised included, Challenge the Champion, Teamwork Challenges, Aspire Football Tournament, Football Performance and Science Activities beginning from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Katara being one of the major attractions saw the participation of 62 entities hosting range of activities such as, Wrestling match, Basket Ball competition, Tennis, Handball, Cycling,  Katara Furjan Beach Championship, Water games, Horse Riding, Volleyball, Marshall arts and parade.

Qatar Foundation organised 50 activities including, walkathon and ultra-marathon in education. Games and activities for kids and only ladies were also organised with family oriented activities taking place at the QF Recreation Center.

Ooredoo hosted a wide array of sports activities ranging from lemon race, relay, wood rail race, Tug-O-war, Human Bowling, Taekwondo to name a few.

Apart from these three major venues various sports activities were organised throughout the country to celebrate the Sports Day.

Lulu Group in cooperation with Australian Embassy has launched the Australian Festival for the first time, at its outlets in Qatar. The ongoing Australian Festival is launched at Lulu Hypermarket — Al Messila on 5th February and will extend till 12th February.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by the officials from the Australian Embassy, Yara Elsergany and Lamees Shaat, members of Qatar, Australia and New Zealand Business Association (QANZBA), Mohamed Althaf, Director of Lulu Group International and many other dignitaries.

As per the inaugural speech of Dr. Axel Wabenhorst, Lulu group has put in great efforts at the festival to highlight and promote various products at the Festival. Also, he expressed that the supporting point of sale materials utilized in-store was highly impressive indicating that beef and lamb are the most imported food items in Qatar from Australia.

The inaugural was also attended by children of King’s College Doha and (the Nord Anglia) Compass School Doha, with an amazing song from Australia performed by children of King’s College Doha.

Live cooking sessions by a Culinary Chef from Meat Livestock Association (Australia) became one of the major attractions at the outlet.

The festival introduced people to major product lines that are directly being imported from Australia regularly for a long time. Categories that are imported include fresh meat, cheese, olives, free-range eggs, muesli bars, bread, varieties of milk and milk products, organic baby foods, sauce, cake mix, honey, fresh and frozen fruits & vegetables etc.

Moreover, the festival also offered specialities and delicacies such as Aussie burgers and other popular Australian dishes at the Hot-food counters.

Despite the presence of Australian products at Lulu stores for a long time, this promotional campaign is expected to lead the promotion of a wider range of Australian products further increasing the sales stimulating the demand and imports.

Qatar has an Australian expatriate population of nearly 3,300 citizens working in high-ranking positions, constituting 0.21 percent of the total population. This festival gives them a great opportunity to enjoy authentic Australian delicacies.

‘LG ThinQ’, the new range of enabled Artificial Intelligence (AI) products will be soon launched by South Korean electronics giant LG this year.

Jae H Ahn, team leader and director, Brand Promotion Team, Global Marketing, LG declared at an event “LG Innofest 2018” in Cape Town, South Africa that the company will be soon launching a wide range of latest premium products in Qatar, Middle East and African countries by this year.

He further explained that the company will be launch LG OLED AI TV, which is to be launched in Qatar during the first half of this year, which will be followed by the LG Signature Refrigerator as well as the LG signature TwinWash washing machine later.

With ThinQ LG is looking forward to enhance its consumer base unfolding its commitment to provide best daily basis solutions for ease of life with AI enable products. Given the increasing complexity of daily cores and limited time AI enabled products will be a huge relief for the consumers.

Jae H Ahn further explained that products like washing machine will be intelligent enough to learn washing cycles and adjust washing as per the weather conditions.

Moreover AI enabled will work on the voice command for changing channels and various commanded information will also be displayed on the screen. Moreover the refrigerator will be able to identify food items and will display expire dates. Also will give recipe informations.

Another key highlights will be latest air conditioning solutions with the cutting-edge Inverter Technology which will become a must in Qatar. In comparison to the available air conditioners which have an automatic cut-off LG’s Inverter Technology will control rotation frequency to produce cooling more efficiently saving energy.

The ground-breaking in LG products have already created a large difference in energy consumption patterns in day to day life leading to more savings. The introduction of the AI enabled products promises added advantages for the consumers.
