Officials from Qatar and the US State Department will hold “informal” talks on July 25 to diffuse a long-running dispute between American carriers and their Gulf competitors, the Wall Street Journal reports.
It added that separate meetings are scheduled with UAE representatives. The three largest US airlines allege Qatar Airways, Emirates and Etihad receive government support that allows them to unfairly steal their market share – a claim denied by the Gulf carriers. According to Politico, the US government is not likely to impose restrictions on Gulf carriers that operate there.
