The US government “appreciates Qatar’s role as a coalition partner in the fight against ISIL” and supports the country’s efforts to “deny terrorist financiers access to its financial system,” it said in a statement today.

The affirmation follows the release of alleged leaked emails from US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton that criticized Qatar and Saudi Arabia for “providing clandestine financial and logistic support” to IS. Qatar has strongly denied these claims in the past.
