Under-construction building in Qatar’s diplomatic area catches on fire

Updated at 10:45pm with remarks from the Ministry of Interior

A fire broke out on the rooftop of an under-construction building this evening in the Diplomatic/West Bay area.

According to Qatar residents on Twitter, emergency responders were on the scene of the blaze, which appeared to start around 5:30pm, shortly before sunset today.

The building is next to Regency Residence and was still going for hours after it started, according to several residents.

Around 9:30pm, the Ministry of Interior tweeted that the fire had been contained, and that there were no injuries.
