The Public Works Authority, Ashghal, has begun re-painting yellow boxes at busy junctions around Doha, to tie in with a Transport Department campaign to remind drivers of the dangers of blocking intersections – and the fine they face if they do so.
In addition to being inconsiderate and dangerous, the Traffic Department has said that it is punishable with a QR500 fine and three penalty points.
Ashghal has told Doha News that main junctions on C-Ring and D-Ring roads – including the Cinema and Al Muntazah intersections – have already been repainted, and that all junctions will eventually be repainted in phases, with priority given to the busiest areas.Â
Do you think the boxes will help maintain order on the roads? Thoughts?
