Five of the alleged Taliban members in the American Guantanamo Bay prison facility have said they’d be willing to live in Qatar – and have their families transferred there – although most importantly, the United States has yet to agree to it.
Contrary to some headlines, whether the Guantanamo prisoners will actually be transfered to Qatar remains unclear. The move does, however, have the Afghan government’s support as a measure to bolster the peace process.
The other big question, though, is whatever happened to the Taliban political office that was supposed to open in Qatar last December?
