Singing Sand Dunes to host world’s ‘hottest art exhibit’
It’s being billed as the “hottest art exhibit in the world”, with the coldest, highest and lowest art shows soon to follow.
The Qatar Tribune reports that a locally-based artist who goes by the name Edgy will be displaying 10 of his abstract painting at the Singing Sand Dunes next week.Â
Says the QT exclusive:
The paintings are abstract forms inspired by the people and culture of Middle East life. It is also the first of the artist’s unique series of abstract art exhibitions which will be followed by the ‘Coldest Art Exhibition in the World’, the ‘Highest Art Exhibition in the World’ and the ‘Lowest Art Exhibition in the World’.
The newspaper also quotes the artist as saying that the approach of the show is to highlight “art in a natural setting”.
Says Edgy:
“The Singing Dunes is a very special natural phenomenon in Qatar. No other art expo has ever been organised under temperatures over 50 degrees Celsius in the hottest month of the year here. Also, I’d like to see what nature does to the paintings. I didn’t use any special oil or acrylic. If nature destroys the paintings then that’s the paintings.”
The show is supposed to go from 3pm-7:30pm on August 23 and 24. And it is going to be hot, indeed.
