New closures on the Corniche have caused long delays for many commuters heading into the West Bay/Dafna area this week.
Last month, Ashghal, which is converting Sheraton and Dafna roundabouts into signalized intersections, warned residents that traffic heading toward the post office from Sheraton R/A would be diverted onto surrounding roads for nine days.
But it also appears that there are a few unannounced closures. Namely, commuters on the Corniche can no longer turn left at these under-work intersections:

To cope, some residents have parked their cars at the post office and begun walking to work.
Others have elected to stay away from the area for now, though many simply remain stuck in traffic:
#traffic is getting ridiculous in Westbay. Wish there was more pedestrian friendly streets #qatar #doha @dohanews pic.twitter.com/34CkU4VsLG

And a few – like the driver of this vehicle parked on the Barzan intersection median – appear to have just given up navigating the roads:
The good news is that the lane closure will only last until the weekend, according to Ashghal. But another one is supposed to follow, as roadworks are slated to continue in the area until April 15.
Were you affected by the traffic? Thoughts?
