A Qatari citizen remains in detention in the UAE after being arrested at the Dubai airport during a layover on Feb. 26, according to newspaper and social media reports.

Emirati authorities have not given any explanation for the prolonged detention of Dr. Mahmood Abdulrehman Al Jaidah, the director of medical services at Qatar Petroleum, the Peninsula newspaper reports today.

QP has not responded to our requests for information, but Al Arab quoted Al Jaidah’s brother as saying the doctor has not been charged with any crimes and is expected to be released soon.
