Qatar’s Audit Bureau is poring over some QR8 billion in invoices incurred by the National Health Insurance Co. (Seha), which was suspended on Dec. 31, Al Raya reports.
Patients and providers have been criticized for abusing the former health insurance scheme, which could only be used by Qataris but was supposed to be rolled out to expats this year. Private insurance companies will replace Seha by the middle of this year.
Editor’s note: The National Health Insurance Co. subsequently denied the QR8 billion figure and called the audit a “routine check.”
