Long-awaited changes to Qatar’s kafala sponsorship laws will come into force on Dec. 13, according to Arabic daily Al Sharq.
The new rules were approved by the Emir in October 2015, and should make it easier for some expats to leave the country or change jobs.
No official announcement has been made yet about the law’s exact enforcement date, but government officials signaled several months ago that it would take effect in mid-December.
A full version of the new law, in English, can be found here.
