A child reportedly died after drowning at Qatar’s Aqua Park over the weekend, Al Sharq reports.
Lifeguards and park-goers unsuccessfully tried to resuscitate the child, who may have waded into a pool that was too deep for him, the report said.
He was then pronounced dead at the emergency room of a hospital.
The report also states that the director of the park sent condolences to the child’s family and that the investigation is ongoing.
When reached by telephone this morning, the operations director of the park said he could not confirm the report and that officials will comment once a police investigation has concluded.
In 2010, the year the park opened, an 11-year-old boy broke a rib and injured a kidney after falling off one of the park’s attractions. “The police found that safety measures were inadequate,” the child’s father told the Peninsula.
Anyone know more?
