Commuters will begin the week with a new closure at Jaidah Flyover, as Ashghal blocks off the westbound lanes heading away from Electricity Street toward the Ramada Intersection.
The closure, which will last for two weeks (until Feb. 28) is to complete maintenance work, including “replacing the asphalt layer over the flyover as well as improving the structure to accommodate the increased demand of travelers in the area,” the Public Works Authority said in a statement.
In the meantime, traffic will be routed through the Jaidah roundabout underneath the bridge.
Over the past two weeks, the eastbound lanes were closed for roadworks, prompting a number of complaints about traffic backups:
Ramada radisson blu street all the way past Jaidah flyover blocked by traffic. It's going to be a good day…. Sigh…. #DohaTraffic #qatar

It may be a good idea to avoid the area if you can this morning, as the new lane closures are sure to confuse some commuters and lead to more backups.
Thoughts?
