The third annual Torch Staircase Run will take place on Saturday, March 29.
Registration has commenced for the event, in which competitors race up 1,304 stairs (51 floors) to make it to the top of the iconic Torch Doha Hotel.
Both pro athletes and residents aged 17 years and older can compete for prizes that include accommodation and meals at the Torch. Registration, which costs QR100/person, can be done online here.
According to Aspire Zone, which is organizing the event:
It is the responsibility of the participant to be fit to compete on the day of the event. If you have any medical issues that you think may put you at risk when participating, see your doctor prior to starting the event. Please note that the event medical team cannot give individual advice. It is your responsibility to be fit enough to participate at your intended level of intensity (run, jog or walk).
This is the third year the Torch is holding its staircase run.
Last year, some 240 people, including then-Minister of Justice Hasan Bin Abdullah Al-Ghanem, entered the competition. German Thomas Dold took first place in the profession’s category by climbing the stairs in six minutes and 31 seconds.
The non-pro male and female winners finished the competition in under 10 minutes.
