Motorists traveling in and around the Al Maamoura area should expect to contend with separate lane closures on the bridges leading to D-Ring Road in the coming weeks.
The first phase of the closures will take effect for a week from Friday, Jan. 23.
At that time, Qatar’s public works authority Ashghal said it will shut the left lanes on the bridge that extends from the Al Asiri Interchange, as well as the parallel bridge that extends from Haloul Street at Khalifa Bin Abdullah Al Atiyyah Interchange. Both head toward Al Maamoura.
The road network in the vicinity is frequently congested as D-Ring and E-Ring roads converge onto the Al Shamal Expressway.
The second phase of the closure entails blocking off the right lanes on these bridges, from Saturday, Jan. 31 until Feb. 7.
Traffic will continue to flow during the closures, but will be reduced to one lane on each side.
Ashghal said the lane closures are necessary to perform maintenance on the expansion joints on the bridge.
