Qatar University (QU) is the world’s most outward-looking higher educational establishment, according to a global league table by the Times Higher Education (THE).

Qatar’s state university claimed the top spot from Switzerland’s École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and 199 other institutions that were assessed on their “international outlook.” Rankings took the proportion of foreign staff and students into account, as well as the number of international research papers published with at least one co-author from another country.
