Qatar is seeking to acquire 12 Black Hawk helicopters and related equipment from the United States for $1.1bn, UPI reports.

The news agency quotes a US Defense Security Cooperation Agency notification to Congress, which says that the sale to Qatar would “provide greater security for its critical oil and natural gas infrastructure.”

Machine guns and night vision goggles would be included in the proposed package, as would missile warning systems, radar signal detecting and laser-detecting sets.
