Qatar sends relief materials to flood-struck Sudan
Qatar has dispatched two cargo planes of goods to Sudan to help the tens of thousands of people who have been displaced by recent flooding there.
According to QNA, the Emir has ordered some 80 tons of materials be sent immediately to the African country, which has been pounded by heavy rain that is expected to continue for months.Â
One shipment, which was delivered last night, includes tents, medicine, blankets, water pumps and first aid materials, QNA Arabic said. Another load is expected to go out today.
In the past two weeks, at least 36 people have been killed, according to United Nations. Some 26,000 homes have been destroyed, displacing up to 150,000 others, Voice of America reports.
