Qatar Red Crescent donates $500,000 to Syrians in need
Expressing concern for the rising death toll in Syria – which rights groups say has surpassed 5,000 – Qatar Red Crescent Society has launched a fundraising campaign to aid Syrians refugees.
The charity, which has just donated $500,000 to the effort, aims to raise $5.48 million (QR20 million) over the next six months, with the goal of reaching some 40,000 people, said Saleh Ali al Muhanadi, QRC’s executive director.
Qatar Tribune reports:
The campaign, Muhanadi said, will include providing emergency services such as ambulances, first-aid kits, stretchers, medical supplies and medical equipment, food items and nonfood materials…
âWeâll set up stalls in 20 locations in Doha to raise the funds.
These places include malls like City Center, Landmark and Villaggio, along with 40 mosques that will collect donations on a weekly basis. The account number for donation at the Islamic International Bank is â1111-126666- 004â,â Muhanadi concluded.
