A joint venture led by US-based Hill International said it has received a multimillion-dollar project management contract to work on the delayed Lusail light-rail project for the next four years.
Tunneling work on the tram-based system was completed in 2013. Qatar Rail previously said the rail network – which will include a connection with the Doha Metro that will allow passengers to transfer between the two lines – would start operating next year, but has more recently refrained from discussing a new launch date. Ridership forecast documents suggest it’s expected to start operating in 2019-20.
