Qatar population crosses record 1.7 million

Qatar’s population has gone up by an incredible 128 percent in seven years since 2004, and has crossed the 1.7 million-mark for the first time in the country’s history.
Figures released by the Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA) show that the country’s population stood a little above 1.7 million (1,703,448) on May 31…
The number of men by far exceeds those of women as the total number of men reached more 1.26 million, while women remained much below the 500,000-mark (433,815).
On March 31, 2010, the QSA said the population of the country was slightly over 1.67 million, and some 397,498 of them were women.
