Qatar plans to invest 1 billion Qatari Riyals in cinema-related activities over the next four years – a plan that would result in 50 new cinema halls and a Cineplex on C Ring Road, the Qatar Tribune reports.
The paper goes on to say:
Addressing a joint press conference to announce the acquisition project of q.media and Qatar Cinema & Film Distribution Company at La Cigale Hotel on Monday, the Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Media Services Sheikh Alhussain bin Ali bin Ahmed al Thani, however, pointed out that the investment in cinema would not be limited to the state of Qatar.
“We are also eagerly studying opportunities for investment outside of Qatar,” he said.
According to Al Thani, the two companies are currently engaged in negotiations with mall owners to explore possible locations for new cinema houses.
“Following the acquisition, both companies intend to establish a number of multiplex entertainment facilities.”
