Qatar holds mass wedding for former Palestinian prisoners
Some 13 former Palestinian prisoners exiled to Qatar joined hands in a mass wedding ceremony in Doha on Friday, Maan News Agency reports.
Hamas’ soon to be ex-chief Khaled Meshaal and Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi were among those who spoke at the occasion, which was paid for by the Emiri Court of Qatar.
“Our happy occasions are nationalistic occasions, and at the same time our nationalistic occasions are happy occasions,” Meshaal said in his speech in a reference to the prisoner swap.
The men, who were deported to Qatar after being released from Israeli prisons in the Gilad Shalit prisoner swap in October, married local Palestinian women and others from the West Bank, the agency reported.
Congratulations, all!
