A new timelapse video that shows off Qatar with nary a mention of the desert has been making the rounds this week, attracting thousands of views since it was uploaded on Aug. 8.
The five-minute video, “Mega Qatar Time Lapse,” was produced by Samim Qazi, a 36-year-old expat who was born and raised here.

It is full of images of bustling landmarks like Souq Waqif, the Museum of Islamic Art, Katara Cultural Village and of course, Doha’s impressive skyline, which Qazi said has become a symbol for the country’s development.
Speaking to Doha News, Qazi said he produced the video to show how rapidly Qatar has changed in the past decade:
“In the last 10 years it has become more happening,” he said. “The business is booming and everything is going a right positive direction.”
He added that he is already working on other projects that will highlight the beauty of the Gulf state, including “Qatar Nights,” which will focus on remote areas of the country as seen under the stars.
Thoughts?
Hats off to you Samim! Thank you for taking the time to make this, I know how long timelapse shoots can take. I really hope the state sends some love your way for this brilliant work of art and, even if they don’t, keep doing what you’re doing!

It’s be great to see something like this over a period of years rather than hours/days. Qatar’s rapid changes ought to be documented in the same way.
this is incredible !!
Very well done Samim! I really like the video. It’s nice to share it with people who have never visited Doha ?
