The latest closures come after shutting down two private health centres last month for violations regarding the sterilisation of medical tools.
Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has shut down seven private health units and centres for regulatory violations, and is undertaking legal action against several practitioners for operating beyond their professional licenses.
In a statement on Wednesday, the ministry announced the latest legal actions to ensure health entities in Doha comply with the sector’s regulations.
The facilities it recently closed included three specialised centres and four units in private health entities, but the ministry did not disclose their names.
According to the ministry, the violations committed by these centres mainly “involved healthcare practitioners operating beyond the scope of their professional licences”.
The other centres included two private dental clinics, as well as a private nutrition facility.
According to MoPH, the centre only had one nutritionist, no nutrition technician, and employed unlicensed practitioners.
The latest legal measures by the MoPH also saw the suspension of a doctor’s professional license for working beyond their duties, while taking action against the private healthcare facility that employed them.
The statement did not reveal the doctor’s identity or their employer.
“The MoPH is committed to ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in healthcare services provided in the country, striving to enhance the quality of healthcare and ensure patient safety,” the ministry noted.
The ministry has intensified its inspection campaign in recent years, taking legal action against violators in the health sector.
Last month, the ministry announced the “administrative closure” of two private health centres over violations regarding the sterilisation of medical tools.
In 2024, the ministry carried out legal measures against two private health units, a private health services agency, a general medical complex, and a health facility for different violations.
