Penin: Weather change triggers rise in respiratory ailments
Dusty, furnace-like conditions are prompting an increasing number of people, mostly children, to present to Qatar emergency rooms with breathing issues.
The Peninsula reports:
“Normally we see an increase in stomach related problems during summer. But this time we have been receiving a number of cases involving respiratory problems, apparently due to the dust winds prevailing over the country since last week,” Dr Khalid Al Ansari, Director of the Paediatric Emergency told The Peninsula last evening.
The Qatar Meteorology Department says to expect strong winds and sand to continue pounding Qatar this week, and predicts the weather won’t stabilize to a calm heat until July.
