Musical acts, magicians, performers and street art are among the features of a new carnival at the Pearl-Qatar, which kicks off tonight at 6pm.

The month-long carnival, which takes place on the boardwalk and ends May 19, will include a jazz saxophonist and dance troupes showcasing routines from across the globe.

Human statues, stilt walkers, jugglers and acrobats will also be around to entertain residents and visitors. And make sure to bring the children: there will be face painting, balloon animal making and other games.

The festival runs from 6pm to 10pm Sunday to Thursday and 3pm to 11pm on Friday and Saturday.
