A section of Al Rumailah St. will be closed in both directions starting on Saturday to widen the road, Ashghal has announced.
The closure affects the street between the Al Rumailah and Guest Palace Roundabouts (perpendicular to Al Bidda St.), and will run from April 12 to April 17.
According to the Public Works Authority, the street is going to be widened to three lanes in each direction. Guest Palace R/A will also be widened to help clear up congestion in the area.
Additionally, new lampposts will be installed, and maintenance work will be conducted to help facilitate pedestrian traffic, Ashghal said in a statement. It added:
“Travellers coming from Al Bidaa Street towards Guest Palace roundabout can head north towards Mohammed bin Thani Street and turn left at the Civil Defence roundabout and go left onto Onaiza Street.
Road users coming from Onaiza Street towards Armeilla roundabout can head towards the Civil Defence roundabout and turn right onto Mohammed bin Thani Street to take a right towards Al Bidaa.”
More roadworks in the area are likely to be introduced, as Ashghal said it is working to increase the capacity of roads and manage the traffic flow there.
