Open-air bus shelters leaving patrons in the heat
State-owned transport company Mowasalat has been expanding its public bus routes across Qatar, but as the Gulf Times reports today, the bus shelters themselves are nearly useless in summer:
…those waiting at the bus stops are still forced to bear unbearable heat. The passenger shelters across the country are not even completely covered on the sides and offer little comfort to passengers waiting for buses in summer.
Mowasalat launched its first air-conditioned bus shelter in January of last year, but they’re still extremely uncommon. Patrons say the issue isn’t getting attention because they are a small, insignificant group in the country.
Have you ever ridden the bus? Would you if it had air-conditioned bus stops?
