Qatar’s Public Works Authority will begin a new phase of construction on Dukhan Road this week.
Ashghal said a partial closure of the road – for 2.5km near the Mall of Qatar – will begin on Monday, May 16 and continue until Aug. 7, 2016.
During this time, drivers headed west out of Doha will be required to detour down Al Rufaa St. and U-turn at the first roundabout to get back onto Dukhan Road.
Eastbound drivers heading into Doha from Dukhan will continue as usual.
Dukhan Highway project
The construction is part of Ashghal’s Dukhan Highway Central project, a 15km stretch of highway with eight lanes – four in each direction – as well as hard shoulders and three graded interchanges between the Al Wajba and Al Shahaniya areas of Qatar.
When competed, the QR1.4 billion ($384.5 million) redevelopment will make it easier to get from Doha to Hamad Medical Corp.’s Cuban Hospital, a Qatar Petroleum base, a popular beach and Richard Serra’s East-West sculptures.
